Cultural Activities

Harvest strives to provide the opportunity to participate in and excel in the traditional and special cultural activities. Many life lessons and values are learnt and developed as pupils explore their God-given talents through participation in the variety of activities available to them.

In Music we offer tuition in a variety of instruments and voice. Candidates are prepared by the teachers to play and sing the external exams of Trinity College, Royal Schools and UNISA. We also prepare subject music candidates for the IEB Exams. The students study aspects of World Music, learning to compose and perform proficiently. When our candidates reach a certain level of competence, we encourage participation in ensemble performances and our regular Music evenings. Making music together is fun, satisfying and rewarding.

The choir is under the direction of a qualified and experienced conductor. The choir boast a student membership of around 35 pupils ranging from soprano to bass voices. The choir performs regularly at eisteddfods, events at school and outside of school. The choir's repertoire consists of unaccompanied and accompanied songs, in sacred and contemporary style and in various languages.

Pupils who show talent in Drama are encouraged to participate in our regular School Productions as well as the annual One Act Play Festival where experienced senior students select, organize and direct the plays. Drama skills are taught to all High School pupils during the cultural period.

Capable musicians with a heart for worship are encouraged to participate in our Worship Band. Regular practice sessions and prayer times ensure that the whole school enjoys anointed worship during our Friday morning Chapel times, whilst the Band members also participate in leading occasional Sunday worship services at Harvest Church as well as local school outreach events.
